Tabs

Turbo adds closing, restore, open, and layout enhancements for tabs. Most toggles live under Settings → Appearance. Available on Windows and macOS.

Features with their own full guides:

  • Vertical tabs — side layout, tab layout toggle; Expand on hover option; click-to-mute disabled when fully collapsed
  • Incognito tabs (Beta) — isolated Incognito sessions inside a normal window; shortcut and link context menu

Close tabs

In Settings → Appearance you can toggle separately:

OptionBehavior
Double-click to close tabDouble-click a tab to close it — faster than clicking ×
Right-click to close tabRight-click a tab to close it; hold Shift to still open the context menu

Works in both horizontal and vertical tab layouts.

Last tab stays open

Closing the last tab in a window keeps the window and opens a new tab, so the whole window does not disappear by accident.

Confirm before closing multi-tab windows

Closing a normal window that has multiple tabs shows a confirmation dialog; supports “Don’t ask again.” Related options are under Settings → Appearance.

Tab mute

Click 🔊 on a tab that is playing audio to mute / unmute that tab (available by default), without using in-page controls.

Closed-tab restore

The toolbar Restore pages button brings back tabs you closed by mistake:

  • Left-click — restore the most recently closed tab
  • Long-press or right-click — open the full restore list and pick a page
Toolbar restore button: recently opened tabs list

Closed-tab restore: quickly bring back pages from the recently opened tabs list

Paste and open

Right-click the tab strip New tab button to read the clipboard and open a new tab:

  • URL — navigate directly
  • Plain text — search with your default engine (same as the address bar)

Works in horizontal and vertical tab layouts. Toggle in Settings → Appearance (Paste and open clipboard URL when right-clicking +, on by default). When off, right-clicking + opens an Incognito tab instead.

Vertical tabs

Tabs along the side of the window are easier to manage when many are open. Switch with Tab layout toggle or Settings → Appearance → Tab position.

Incognito tabs

Open isolated Incognito tabs inside a normal window (Beta); menu or Ctrl+M / ⌃⌘M, and from webpage link context menus.
